In the middle of Riva there is a large doorway called Bronze doorway – it was an entrance from south to the cellars of the palace. Cellars are the best preserved part of the palace which is considered to be the biggest late from late antique period in the whole world under he protection of UNESCO. In the past, the cellars' chambers were to sustain the chambers of the emperor which were, by organization, similar to them but changed through time because of the population. There were also found parts of the mosaics in the layers under the cellar which indicated the existence of a settlement even before 3rd century
