Having passed through Golden doorway, you will arrive to Strossmayer Park and the statue of Grgur Ninskog, bishop from Nin, who already in the period of early Croatian state in 925. insisted that king Tomislav allow liturgy in Slavic language and the use of glagolitic alphabet. Unfortunatelly, Pope was against so such a decree was never official but the bishop of Nin lost his high position. Sculptor Ivan Meštrović made this statue in his honor and it is believed that making a wish while holding his thumb will bring you luck. In the park you can relax by reading a book, listen the gurgling of the water or have a picnic.
